The Insurance Record is a family owned and operated publication. This is our team.
Glen joined The Insurance Record in 1981. “I just hope I don’t run out of words,” he commented in his early days. It didn’t take long for him to discover that since most human endeavor requires insurance, he could write about anything — from satellite launches to undersea cables and everything in between.
Glen is crazy about history. His special interest is American military and political history. As a founding member of the North Texas Reenactment Society, a Dallas-based organization for historical re-enactors, Glen has participated in re-enactments and living history presentations in fifteen states covering events from the Texas Revolution to the Spanish American War.
Glen is the youngest charter member of Midway Hills Christian Church. He sings tenor in the choir and has served several terms as a deacon. He served Head Start as a volunteer and was an active Girl Scout dad for 13 years.
Glen is an avid reader and devotee of science fiction. He also enjoys the existential works of Joss Whedon.
An alumnus of North Texas State University, Glen majored in history and English.
Carol has served The Insurance Record since 1976 as advertising manager. Though a Dallas native, Carol began her career at J.H. Blades and Co., Houston. She later worked at Roach, Howard, Smith and Hunter, and Cravens Dargan & Co., both in Dallas.
Carol’s favorite church activity is choir, where she is a soprano soloist. Music is one of her particular interests. At Midway Hills Christian Church, she has served several terms as treasurer, trustee, deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, and cook — both for church functions and for meals served at Austin Street Centre. Carol volunteered for 13 years with Girl Scouts as troop leader and cookie mom.
Reading and cooking are two of Carol’s avid interests. She also enjoys needlecrafts. Carol also occasionally participates with Glen in historical reenactments.
Carol has been associated with both the Dallas Association of Insurance Women and Insurance Women of Dallas. Carol attended Southwestern University, Georgetown, majoring in English and French, and Southern Methodist University, where she pursued a business track.
Glen and Carol have been married since 1979. They have two daughters. Their oldest is serving in the US Army and their younger daughter is attending college.
